This is 40.
Thanks for taking the time to click and read. Life gets hectic around this time of year. For me it’s the holidays, my kiddo’s birthday (she’s FIVE), my birthday (I’m 40), and other end-of-year business. I’ve been a little overwhelmed by it all which seems compounded by the stressors we all experience. I, like you, want my life to have meaning; I want my work to have a positive impact, my environmental footprint small, to have health, and for my friends and family to feel the enormity of love I have for them.
As we roll into 2022, I intend for these weekly writings to serve as a medium to share my passion for aesthetics, natural wellness and spirituality. In six years of practice as a Naturopathic physician and Acupuncturist I have shifted from primary care to functional medicine to aesthetics. When starting out, I had no idea I would end up here; with a schedule full of aesthetic procedures! I cannot express the gratitude I have for a job that I love and filled with clients that I adore. I often say that aesthetics found me, but I can say for sure that I have worked hard to get here and my plan is to continue to work hard as long as my health supports.
Turning 40 is kinda a big deal! For my 40th birthday this past weekend, my boyfriend and I went up to Whidbey Island and stayed in a quaint place on the water. What I can tell you is that old habits are hard to kick; and the lesson of moderation is one I continue to learn. Aside from a minor hiccup or two, our time was magical and I pinch myself for being loved by such a man. I feel embodied in my womaness like never before; partly due to the gleaming pride I have for my daughter and the successes I have manifested from hard work. Overall, I’m walking into my 40's alright.
When I was twenty, I didn’t think about my health much. When I was thirty, I started thinking about my health and now that I’m 40, I’ve all a sudden shifted the thinking to my mortality. I kid-you-not, this happened over night; one health stressor and my mind went weak! I am so grateful for this life and the opportunity to love and be loved and to do something good. In terms of health, let’s all vow to stay up to date on our screening exams.
Moving forward, I envision a life of health, love and connection, and opportunity to grow in my trade with purpose and intention. I intend to honor my body through nutrition, movement, sleep, love, and meditation; and share with you along the way. I envision meaningful connections with others and opportunities to serve.
I’m excited to bring in 2022 with you; I feel hopeful in all its possibilities. Let me know what topics that you want to learn about. Come March, this weekly blog will be four years old and I could use some help keeping the content relevant and interesting.
Happy end of the year,
Heather
