I’m excited to offer bioregenerative services, and to have been further honing these skills in my recent work studying with Shino Bay. Sculptra helps with replacing volume loss with your own tissue rather than hyaluronic acid-based fillers. While working with Sculptra is not new for me, my recent training with Shino Bay helped to refine my technique and maintain a focus targeting volume to the bone.

In the procedural work with Shino Bay, I observed the concentration of the Sculptra injection, finding that his more potent injection gave greater results and faster. The placement on the bone is also essential. Bone provides structure for the overlying tissues of fat and skin. As the bone reduces, the skin starts to sag and lose volume. The volume loss that comes with aging is due in part to a deep and gradual loss of the bone. When we inject Sculptra at the deepest layer, it interacts with the bone to help to maintain its density and counteract the shrinking of structure and volume. And the amazing part is — Sculptra regenerates one’s own tissue regrowth, i.e., it is bioregenerative.

What is Sculptra? Chemically, it is poly-L lactic acid, and it has been used for many years in medical products. We’ve seen it used in implants and screws and other tools for surgery. It is biodegradable; sutures that biodegrade can be made of poly-L lactic acid, for example. Beginning in the 90’s, Sculptra was approved for injectable and aesthetic use. It’s been on the aesthetic market for over fifteen years, so it comes tried, trusted, and approved.

When you come in for this treatment, we will individualize the plan per your needs, but generally it is a seven-point-technique that targets the temples, mid-face, along the cheekbone, along the chin, jawline, and around the nose for the smile lines – all depending on one’s particular face. After two months pass, we will assess and see how the treatment looks and feels, applying touch-ups as needed. During the training, I had this service applied to my face, and in the days after, I experienced a bit of soreness and small bruising, but overall within a few days, I was back to normal.

Shino Bay uses Sculptra on most qualifying patients over 50 to maintain bone integrity and therefore a youthful look. The results were compelling– folks felt and looked vibrant, finding that these treatments helps to maintain youthfulness over the years.

This service can be used on all genders, all races, and though it is most appropriate for those in their late 40's and 50's and beyond, it is an option for qualifying younger folks, too. Sculptra is a science that allows us to maintain deep tissue and deep structure using our body's own material. For those of us who are interested slowing the appearance of facial aging, consider Sculptra!

Make an appointment for consultation and we can envision how this service might work for you.
