Learning in Sculptra Aesthetic and HyperDilute Radiesse From Shino Bay
Over this last week, I’ve been in Miami visiting family and enjoying the opportunity to study with the world-renowned injector and aesthetics practitioner, Dr. Shino Bay Aguilara. The training revolved around an ethos that emphasizes preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of clients through the exploration of cutting-edge techniques. I’m feeling so full of inspiration as a result of the community and learning, and I’m excited to share my experiences here and at home. I’ll speak to an overview of the training today, and then in greater depth over the next few weeks, when I’ll describe some of the wonderful new services and techniques I’ll have available.
While Shino Bay uses fillers every day in his practice, he also believes deeply in bioregenerative treatments that call on the body’s inherent abilities for restoration. When utilizing injection procedures, Shino Bay also integrates vitamin, minerals, and other cofactors into his treatments. As a naturopath, this approach speaks to my heart in combining aesthetics with nourishment. As a lifelong student, I also always look to the literature that supports technical choices like these, and the scientific findings are in support.
The first half of day one of the training was introductory and lecture-based, while the second half we witnessed Shino Bay in the injection process. Treatments we observed included hyper-dilute Radiesse in the face and neck, Sculptra to enhance bone density, and hyaluronic fillers mixed with PRF.
I’m excited about working with hyper-dilute Radiesse blended with nutrients to help support skin health. We learned a three-point technique on the face and for the neck. Over the years, I have lacked treatment options to support the neck, but with this training, I can confidently add this as an effective treatment to support collagen production in the neck. More on this to come!
We also learned about applying Sculptra for bone density. I was one of the lucky participants in the training to receive this seven-point technique. I am a fan of Sculptra and believe in this technique, however being on the other end of the needle was a helpful reminder of the bravery it takes to receive treatments. But I trusted my injector, I felt ready for the injections (it had been about 1.5 years since my last treatment), and I wholeheartedly believe in this technique– both subtly enhancing to the skin health and deeply nourishing for bone health. More to come on this!
There was an eighty-year old woman at the training who looked incredible and you could tell she felt incredible. It brought me so much joy to take her in, and I realized this phenomenon is at the heart of why I love this work– I can help people to feel good about themselves and then that feeling helps to improve their quality of life. It is a perfect feedback loop.
Watching Shino Bay was a chance to see an ancestor of my craft. I am returned to that place of fullness that I feel after learning in community. It doesn’t come without sacrifice– I made the investment to attend this training, traveled to Florida, had the daytimes away from my child, but I know that I am walking away enriched and eager to bring that home.
