Neck Rejuvenation with Hyper Diluted Radiesse in Portland, OR
The changing texture of the neck is an area that tends to preoccupy a lot of people. And for good reason, the neck can be so telling, often conveying our age or adding to an aged appearance. I’m delighted to share that one of my more recent training sessions with Shino Bay equipped me with a technique that applies Radiesse to augment skin laxity and collagen loss of the neck. Since I’ve added this service to my practice, I’m proud to say that I’ve been busy with clients seeking Radiesse for this specific area.
Radiesse is composed of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a known collagen stimulator. We blend it with saline and lidocaine in order to create a hyper diluted consistency which creates a more spreadable medicine. Radiesse has a significant impact on reducing fine-wrinkling and promoting tightening. It induces collagen, which makes the skin thicker, and elastin which makes the skin tighter. The number of treatments needed will vary per client, depending on the amount of skin laxity, most typically requiring a couple of sessions about six weeks apart for optimal results. Then, going forward, you can expect to come in for a yearly refresh.
At the time of this writing, I use a cannula (rather than a needle), in this treatment. A cannula is a long and rounded needle that minimizes the required injections. For the neck, I typically map out five injection points, and use a fan pattern to lay down the medicine. Radiesse results begin to show at about three weeks with optimal results at six weeks, and it’s ideal to have a couple of treatments especially with the first treatment cycle. Amount of treatments needed will be dependent on the individual.
To determine your candidacy for this treatment, we assess various contexts. If you’re on blood-thinning medication or if you have a compromised immune system, these are factors that may prevent candidacy for the procedure. In terms of possible risks and side effects, bruising may result and is the most common adverse event. There will be a bit of soreness, too. It’s important to minimize sun exposure for 24 hours after the procedure, and you can apply ice.
I personally love this treatment because it’s a bioregenerative treatment; the results you’re getting are from your own tissue. Other treatments that I offer to support the aging neck include Botox, especially the Nefertiti neck lift, and microneedling which has been shown to minimize horizontal neck lines.
If you’re curious about Radiesse for the neck, schedule a consultation and we will determine what would work best for your particular needs and goals.
