Sculptra is a poly-l-lactic acid filler used in the buttocks to gradually enhance volume. Booty beauty has consistently maintained a symbol of femininity.  Having the knowledge and skill to offer aesthetic treatments that beautify the booty has been a long-term goal of mine, and I’m pleased to share today that my practice is now opened up to offering such care. The robust safety and efficacy profile of Sculptra use in the face has sparked interest in its off-label use for other aesthetic applications such as with gluteal enhancement. Offering Sculptra for the gluteal area allows me to broaden use of my tools, and offer other popular services.

While I worked with Shino Bay recently around Sculptra for gluteal enhancement, I’ve also been studying and practicing independently. Specifically, I’ve honed in the ‘Firm And Up’ Technique, in which, generally, two vials of Sculptra are applied on each side of the bum with a second treatment likely (1). The exact amount of injection will vary from client to client based on particular needs, anatomy, and goals.  The injection technique employs a cannula and is similar to cannula technique in the face; placed superficially and in a fanning method.

As I’ve written in other recent posts, Sculptra aesthetic works by stimulating your own collagen production.  With gluteal enhancement, it improves skin quality, adds contour and lifting, and contributes to projection and volume– all through the same mechanism to stimulate collagen. Sculptra is a collagen biostimulator. It is absorbable, biodegradable, and is backed by studies attesting to its efficacy and safety (2).

When you come in for this technique, we will begin with a consultation in which we talk about your desired outcome and come up with a plan for the process. This consultation will also include taking photos to track our progress, making a specific map for the injection, numbing for comfort, preparing the medicine, and injecting it. There is no down time for this procedure, but there may be a bit of temporary bruising and tenderness in the healing process. We follow up in 12 weeks to review results by comparing photos and discuss the potential of another treatment.

We know about the longstanding and tested benefits of Sculptra. If you are someone wanting to tighten, enhance, lift, or just accentuate your silhouette, the gradual volume increase of adding Sculptra to gluteal region may just do the trick. The Brazilian butt-lift is one of the most popular surgical procedures of contemporary times. An aesthetically pleasing backside is long in vogue. If you’re wanting to feel a little extra volume and potentially more pleasure and pride in your body this summer, think about coming in for a consultation.
