Sculptra Aesthetic in Portland

There is a whole world out there when it comes to injectables. Sculptra aesthetic is the one for you if you want to maintain a natural look while still taking advantage of the available tools out there. Sculptra in Portland is unlike your typical hyaluronic acid filler because it supports your body’s natural collagen production. Results are gradual, subtle, and long lasting with outcomes lasting a good two years.

A healthy supply of collagen helps us look young; my baby’s face is plump with collagen! Collagen is a protein deep in the skin that gives structure and support to the skin’s elastin and hyaluronic acid supply. We lose about 1% of our collagen each year; so, by age 45, we typically face up to 25% of our collagen loss. Sculptra is an injectable that encourages self-stimulation of collagen. Also known as a bio-stimulator, Sculptra is gaining popularity.

Treatments are customized to your particular face, however the distribution of Sculptra is typically throughout the entire face. Focus areas often include: the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, jawline, and chin. It’s recommended to start with two treatments, twelve weeks apart and with most treatments using two vials.

How does this injectable work? As a poly-L lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, you can think of Sculptra as a magnet for your own collagen. Prior to injection the PLAA is mixed with bacteriostatic water and lidocaine. This solution is injected into the areas we are looking to bring collagen to. Immediately after treatment, your skin is plump with hydration however this fades as the water is absorbed. Over the next twelve weeks, your body is working to lay down new strands of collagen where Sculptra was introduced. This ultimately improves the deep underlying structures through collagen productions and gradually restores facial volume and improves wrinkles.

I personally had Sculptra injections this past summer. I used two vials placed in my temples, cheeks, jawline, and at the nasal-labial folds. Six months into treatment, and I am very happy with my results. While another treatment could be indicated, I am happy enough with the results from the first treatment so have chosen to hold off until the summertime for round 2.

Sculptra is safest when injected by a skilled and specialist who has had adequate training with the product. To date, I have had three hands-on training sessions and have injected dozens of vials. The most common adverse events are associated with the actual injections and include swelling, redness, tenderness at injections site, swelling, bruising and bleeding. Small lumps and bumps occurred in a small percentage of study participants but none were classified as serious. To help avoid lumps (of collagen), you are instructed to massage the treatment area either 5 times a day for 5 minutes, for 5 days OR twice daily for a month.

We have tools available to help support the aging process. Results bloom over time, and you get to enjoy the natural collagen-producing mechanism with a bit of boost from Sculptra to support the body’s wisdom.
