Balancing the Feminine and Masculine
This week, I explore the balance of female and masculine energies. This reflects my recent personal experiences of working to balance these energies. Like many women, I connect heavily to the masculine energies of working hard and achieving goals, while neglecting my inner feminine. For some past months I have been bringing these energies into balance, and this has been transformative. This week I identify what these energies are and talk about changes you can make for better balance.
Every human being on earth embodies both masculine and feminine energies. This is separate from man and woman or male and female. In some people one energy expresses itself more than the other, some people are more balanced, and in some there is a huge imbalance. Identifying what these energies represent is the first step to understanding your balance.
The Healthy Masculine - Yang
This is the energy of making goals, following through, being direct, focused, clear, steadfast, rational, strong, logical, productive, accountable, stable, confident and disciplined. This energy propels us forward, allows us to achieve goals, and serves us in business. I spent most of these past years focused and working to build my practice while managing my home and family; in reflection it is clear that masculine energies have predominated in my life. This isn’t a bad thing at all and has actually propelled me forward.
The Healthy Feminine - Yin
Healthy feminine energy is grounded, reflective, open, trusting, authentic, supportive, nurturing, strong, empathetic, and creative. Here we nourish ourselves, allow time for self expression, enjoy our body’s and are able to receive from others. Through self expression like movement, counseling, and meditation, I find myself embodying more feminine energy and being more open than ever to deeper and more meaningful relationships. For me right now, I am calling in this energy and awakening my inner feminine.
What the healthy balance is between these two energies will be different for each of us and is ever-changing. We can connect with these energies to become more powerful, connect deeper to others, and ultimately work to create the life of our dreams.
I have come to embody more feminine energy through personal practice. Through meditation and counseling I work on cultivating intuition, surrendering, letting go, and connecting to my emotions. Activities like journaling, movement, meditation, and other creative expressions potentiate the feminine.
I feel most masculine when I’m doing anything related to my business. The masculine is in control. Being clear and writing down specific goals, what you need to get there, organizing yourself, and taking action to follow through is what I perceive as potentiating the masculine.
It’s never a bad thing for self-reflection and observation to where you stand in this all. There’s no right way to be and we are constantly shifting and flowing as we move through our lives. For me, committing to the personal work of meditation, reflection, and self expression; really focusing on the feminine, has allowed for palpable changes in my life.
With love,
Heather
