Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

IMG_3000.jpg

PRP therapy is a medical technique that uses your own blood to produce plasma enriched with platelets, growth factors and stem cells (mesenchymal cells 34+).  PRP is produced by our own blood cells so there is full compatibility.  This is a science based, simple and quick procedure with no downtime and minimal rate of adverse events.
Applications of PRP therapy include:

  • Hair loss and hair thinning: A randomized, blinded, placebo controlled, half-headed study using 20 participants concluded that at the end of 3 treatment cycles, the patients improved in the mean number of hairs, and a mean increase in total hair density with no side effects from treatment (2).
  • Full Face Rejuvenation: skin aging is part of the natural "agin mosaic" with several mechanisms at play.  Aging skin looses its elasticity causing the phenomenon of sagging, cell turnover slows down leading to a slower healing rate, with marked loss of collagen and fibrin contributing to wrinkes (3).  PRP has been shown to increase collagen production through histological evidence (4).  PRP has been shown to improve skin firmness-saggin and wrinkle state after 3 PRP treatments (5).
  • Acne Scars: PRP can promote collagen deposition which may explain the statistically significant improvement experienced in treatment of acne scars (6).
